Willimantic Food Coop will be celebrating their 32nd Anniversary with live music and 32 cakes, and the 8th Annual Willimantic Chocolate Festival will take place from 11AM to 3PM with over 30 downtown businesses handing out free treats to all who visit.
February 11th will also be the first time we will have our doors open to the public. It will be more of a soft opening than a grand opening. We'll have a somewhat small selection of records, books and audio equipment for sale that weekend. It may give curious folks passing through for the Chocolate Festival a hint at what we've got planned for later in February when we will be better stocked and more fully up and running. Our hours will be 11AM - 5PM on Saturday (2/11/12) and Noon-5PM on Sunday (2/12/12).
Please stop by if you're in the neighborhood. Willimantic Records is located right behind Rajeans Antiques at 744 Main Street in Willimantic. Our entrance is in the back of the building, by the railroad tracks.
For our friends who collect 78rpm records, we likely will only have a few crates of quarter priced batwings for sale on the 11th & 12th. If you come back in a few weeks, we will have a far larger and more diverse selection of shellac to flip through.
For those who don't collect 78s: we will also have many, many more LPs, 45s and CDs for sale in a couple of weeks (and batwings have nothing to do with bar food or crime fighting).
Regular store hours will begin on February 16th, with our first instore performance tentatively scheduled for February 19th. Details will be posted as plans are finalized.
