December 31st: THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE & I AM NO LONGER AFRAID TO DIE, FOXING, POSTURE & THE GRIZZLY, JOHN GALM, SODA BOMB, MAKESHIFT SHELTERS

The World Is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die headline the Willimantic Records New Year's Eve show, put together by Broken World Media. TWIABP had a heck of a year in 2013. Their debut LP received rave reviews, their shows were packed across the USA, they hit the Billboard charts, recorded a session for the Onion's AV Club, and now already have large North American & European tours booked for 2014. I doubt all of the other bands in Willimantic combined have anywhere close to the 47k Facebook likes TWIABP has accumulated, yet the band still are going out of their way to support a locally owned & operated independent shop like mine. Derrick, from TWIABP & Broken World Media, could have held his New Year's Eve show pretty much anywhere, and he generously offered me the chance to do it here at Willimantic Records. It's much appreciated, as well as refreshing to see a group largely ignored in their hometown continue to support the local music scene.

The New Year's Eve show runs from 5pm to 10pm, so tired old cranks like me can still go home and sleep through the countdown to midnight, and more energetic folks can head out to their local favorite party spot well before the ball drops. The show itself will likely occur in a nearby secret location. It's just steps from Willimantic Records, and all you have to do is come by the shop on New Year's Eve for the details.

Willimantic Records gift certificates are perfect for the music collector on your holiday shopping list.

When shopping for music to give to a collector one runs the risk of choosing a record the collector already has, which is why Willimantic Records gift certificates are a good way to go. Gift certificates are available in any dollar amount. Purchase a $50 Willimantic Records gift certificate between December 13th & December 20, 2013 and receive a free Willimantic Records t-shirt. The recipient doesn’t even have to play the drums.

Saturday, December 7th at 6pm:
